ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Welcome to the Department of Accounting and Information systems. The department runs five [5] undergraduate programmes: Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree in Accounting, Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree in Internal Auditing, Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree in E-Commerce and the Bachelor of Commerce Special Honours Degree in Accounting after starting with one [1] programme in 2005. The Department offers Master of Commerce Degrees in Applied Accounting, Master of Commerce Degree in Professional Accounting and Corporate Governance/Grad ICSA offered in conjunction with the Chartered Governance and Accountancy Institute in Zimbabwe. The Department also offers Master of Philosophy Degree programmes and Doctor of Philosophy Degree programmes in Accounting.
The Department strives to remain current. In that regard, it has entered collaborative arrangements with professional bodies. The Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree in Accounting is accredited by Association of Certified Chartered Accountants [ACCA]. In addition, the Department has another arrangement with the Chartered Accountancy Academy [CAA] where public lectures are held at least once per year at the Great Zimbabwe University Mashava Campus. The Department runs the Master of Commerce Degree in Professional Accounting and Corporate Governance/Grad ICSA programme in collaboration with Chartered Governance and Accountancy Institute in Zimbabwe [CGI] where successful candidates are granted graduateship status by the Institute upon successful completion.
